02 //Why this course
Why this course.
S/4HANA SAP FICO is proposed as a 75-day, business-process-led SAP finance program combining Financial Accounting (FI) and Management Accounting/Controlling (CO). The pathway moves from SAP finance foundations and organizational structures into General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, period/year-end close, reporting, cost center accounting, internal orders, product cost, profitability analysis and FI–CO integration.
SAP's current S/4HANA learning journeys separate Financial Accounting and Management Accounting into related but distinct implementation domains. Financial Accounting covers organizational units/master data, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, period/year-end close and reporting. Management Accounting covers organizational structures/master data, overhead cost accounting, product cost planning, cost object controlling, profitability analysis, periodic activities and reporting.
The proposed course should therefore teach both the accounting processes and the integration between them. SAP describes S/4HANA finance as using a central journal/data foundation and supports real-time cost and revenue information across Financial and Management Accounting.
